All About Me Book

Cameron Broyles 3, Mrs. Creswell !!!
Assistant Principal Mrs. Creswell and Cameron Broyles (LC 2) got to know each other a little better this week.  Mrs. Creswell learned that Cameron was interested in playing chess during his spare time.  So once the STAAR testing was completed, Mrs. Creswell asked Cameron if she could play him in chess sometime.  Of course Cameron said, "How about right now?"
The competition began with quite a bit of preliminary excuses from Mrs. Creswell ("I haven't played in a long time... My husband doesn't play so I don't ever get to practice..." etc.) and boy did she need them.  The first match Cameron beat her in less than 4 moves.  The shrieks of "You're sneaky!" and "How did you do that?"  could be heard throughout the administrative offices.  The second game was not much better for Mrs. Creswell, but she was improving.  She lasted 10 minutes before Cameron bested her.  The third and final match was riveting.  It seemed as if Mrs. Creswell had finally warmed up and was in proper fighting shape.  Those of us who were observing were on the edge of our seats, rooting for her to win at least one game.  We felt pride of adulthood and were certain that age and experience would prevail.  Little did anyone know that this was all part of Cameron's well composed strategy.  Mrs Creswell was falling for his elaborate scheme!  At one point, the game had to be paused to allow Cameron to control his wicked, unrelenting laugh.  He knew he had won long before Mrs. Creswell or anyone else had a clue.
Thank you for being such a great sport, Mrs Creswell.  And by the way , the Chess Club meets every Monday and Wednesday mornign in the library.  You need to Practice!

  1. I like your book, my favorite part was when you said that Mrs. Creswell needed to come to chess club to improve her skills, that was hillarious
